Where sustainability meets exceptional occupier experience

Managing nearly 40 hotels across the UK under brands as varied as Radisson Blu, Hilton, Marriott and IHG leaves little room for half-measures on sustainability. Every initiative must work across properties with different brand standards, ownership structures and guest expectations. The challenge isn't whether to be sustainable, it's how to make it real at scale.

A group built on purpose

Axiom Hospitality is a leading UK hotel management group dedicated to outstanding performance driven by efficiency and expertise. They have built a reputation not just for operational excellence, but for doing it with genuine hospitality at the centre: a culture that runs from the executive team all the way to the front desk of every property they manage.

That culture is reinforced through Axiom's Green Team Leader programme. Bringing together hotel teams both in person and virtually, these regular gatherings create a forum for sharing ideas, celebrating progress and learning from sustainability partners. Recent sessions have highlighted initiatives ranging from rooftop herb gardens in London to reusable cup programmes in Ireland.

The result is an operation designed to turn local successes into portfolio-wide improvements, ensuring that good ideas do not remain isolated to a single property.

When purpose and practice align

Today, 27 of Axiom's properties have adopted the Dripdrop stand. What stood out during the evaluation process was not only the product itself, but the business model behind it. Dripdrop is incentivised to build umbrellas that last because every replacement comes at Dripdrop's expense, not the hotel's. Durability is rewarded, while waste is reduced. Sustainability and commercial logic point in the same direction.

This kind of structural alignment resonates with a group already embedding sustainability frameworks across their portfolio as some hotels are already Green Key certified, while others hold Green Tourism or Greengage ECOsmart certification.

Through the partnership with rePurpose Global, every Dripdrop rental removes the equivalent of six plastic bottles from the environment of Indonesia, keeping plastic from entering our ocean and harming ecosystems. One umbrella contains about 297g of plastic but through our initiative it recovers 1.3kg of plastic waste from nature in average. That's 4.5x more plastic recovered than used.

Collectively, Axiom's properties, so far have contributed to the recovery of 1,030 kg of plastic waste. To make that tangible, here's what that number actually means:

A sustainability story guests can see

The Dripdrop stand is the visible face of all of this, a small, considered gesture in the lobby that tells a guest something meaningful about the hotel they've just walked into. Across Axiom's city-centre properties, from London to Edinburgh to Cardiff, guests encounter a practical service that carries a story with it: every umbrella borrowed is part of a circular system designed to keep plastic out of the ocean and umbrellas in use.

For Axiom, that's the point. Sustainability isn't a compliance exercise. It's part of what guests experience when they walk through the door.
