Getting started
with Dripdrop
IT TAKES 5 MINUTES

Get Started

01. Getting started (0:38min)

Welcome to the onboarding of your new Dripdrop umbrella service. You should have received a package with this umbrella stand in it. You should also have received two yellow Dripdrop staff cards, a mat and a package of umbrellas. In the next video clips, we’ll go through each step of getting started with offering rain protection to your guests.

02. Placing the umbrella stand (0:34min)

How to place the umbrella stand: It’s important to remember to place the umbrella stand so that it is as useful as possible for your guests. The absolutely best place is often right next to the exit or as near it as possible, so that it’s visible when guests become aware of the weather outside. There needs to be a power outlet available within a few meters. Once the stand is placed, take the mat and fit it underneath. The mat absorbs dripping water from umbrellas.

03. Plugging it in (0:29min)

The first thing we need to do is plug in the cable, to power the umbrella stand. When you plug it in, the display on the payment terminal lights up and starts booting. This can take a few minutes, so let’s do something else meanwhile. Most likely, you will have a bit of excess cable sticking out from the stand. There is room in the back of the stand, where you can push this excess cable in order for it not take take up unnecessary space on the ground.

04. Make sure it works (0:59min)

You have now placed the stand in order to make it the most useful for you guests and you’ve started it by plugging it into the wall. After a few minutes, the display says “Present card”, at which point the stand is activated. Also check that all six arms have this white light turned on.

In order to be absolutely certain that the everything is working, take a credit card, or a smartphone with Apple Pay or Google Pay, and tap it on this wireless icon on the payment terminal. The display will say “processing” and then “card accepted” and an arm will unlock and have a green light. Everything is working as is should. Don’t worry, this will not be charged, since there is no umbrella leaving the stand.

05. Load umbrellas (0:24min)

Fill it up! Now you can start loading umbrellas onto the stand. There should be five umbrellas placed on every arm. There is actually room for six, but we strongly recommend five as the maximum so that the arm doesn’t get packed too tightly and get jammed. So just continue doing this until there are 5 umbrella on each arm.

06. Using the staff card (0:58min)

The last little thing that we want to show you, is how to use the staff card. You have received two identical cards, just so you have one extra. This card can unlock umbrellas from the stand, without using payment cards. You might use them if a guest does not have a functioning payment method or if you yourself needs to borrow an umbrella while leaving the site for a few minutes. In order to use, first place it on top of an arm like this with one hand. Then take your other hand and feel underneath, and there is a wheel there which you spin one “click” inwards. The arm then lights green and unlocks. You can take one umbrella out.

Using the Dripdrop Staff Card

Simply place the Dripdrop card 1 on top of any arm (near LED light) and turn the wheel 2 inwards while the card is still placed on top of the arm. When you see the green light on and hear a click sound, remove the umbrella from the arm.

07. Troubleshooting (0:54min)

Something not working as it’s supposed to? Obviously, we can never be 100% certain that problems can’t happen. Let’s go through a few rare but possible errors and quick solutions to these:
- If the display here on the payment terminal says anything else but “Present card”, unplug the machine and then simply plug it back in again and wait for it to reboot for a couple of minutes.
- If one or more of the arms does not have a white light, unplug the machine and then simply plug it back in again and wait for it to reboot for a couple of minutes.

If this doesn’t work or you have any other issues, please contact us directly and we’ll assist you from there.
